老夫婦の車が運河にダイブ

[ カンガル ] 昨日（1/4）、アラウ運河に乗用車が転落し、乗っていた主婦ザイナブ＠ザイナー・アブドゥル・ハミッド（６６）さんが死亡した。事故は午前１１時半ごろ起きた。運転していたのは亭主のサブリ・ハシム（７２）さんで、シンパン・エンパットからアラウに向かう途中、運転をあやまり道路脇の木にぶつかり、そのまま水深１０メートルの運河に転落したもよう。サブリさんは自力で脱出し、助けをもとめた後、現場に戻ったが強い流れにさえぎられ救出は難航し、ザイナブさんが救出されたのは午後１時半だった。

Wife dies after car plunges into canal

[ KANGAR ] A housewife, Zainab@Zainah Abdul Hamid, 66, died when the car she was in with her husband plunged into the Arau canal near here, yesterday.
Kangar OCPD Supt Yusof Mohd Diah said the incident occurred at 11.30am when the victim and her husband, Sabri Hashim, 72, were on their way to Arau from Simpang Empat.
When approaching Belat Tok Kong, almost three kilometers from Simpang Empat town , Sabri lost control of the car and crashed onto a tree at the lefthand side of the road before plunging into the 10 metre deep canal.
Sabri, a former armed forces personnel from Jalan Haji Hussin, Arau, managed to free himself from the car and swim to the bank.
He went back to the car to save his wife but the strong currents swept him away. Yusof said his wife's body was recovered in the car by the rescue team that arrived at 1.30pm.
The victim's body was taken to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital here and Sabri was also brought there to be treated.
