More shopping outlets at KLIA soon
[ PUTRAJAYA ] Visitors to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)
will enjoy a wider variety of goods at affordable prices soon as more
shops will be opened at its main terminal building.
Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd comercial services general manager Umar
Bustamam said the new shops will make tourists "feel at home"
in KLIA , and see the airport as a ' shopper's paradise"
"We aim to make KLIA more than just an airport. We want to make it
a shoppers' haven where tourists can find most of everything they usually
look for ," he said.
Umar said the airport aims to have more fashion outlets at its Satellite
Building, which featured international brands such as Christian Dior and
Burberry.
"We plan to increase the number of book shops, as they are in demand."
Umar said the airport recorded a RM650 million sales volume last year.compared
to RM535 million in 2004.
"We hope to see a further increase this year,"he said, adding
that they would also organise several contests for shoppers, with attractive
prizes for the top winners.
These, he said ,would complement the on-going Premier Contest, the grand
prize of which is a RM373,000 Mercedes Benz E-200K.
"We have received 25,500 entries for the Premier Contest, and this
has exceeded our initial target of 15,000 entries."
The contest is part of the Real Value, Real Style shopping campaign of
the airport which began last November.
It will end on March 31.
