Maid held over RM1.3mil robbery
MALACCA : The Indonesian maid of a moneychanger has
been remanded in connection with the RM1.3mil robbery at his house in
Taman Sentosa.
The 27-year-old maid was produced at a magistrate's court where police
obtained a seven-day remand order to facilitate investigations.
State CID chief Asst Comm mazlan Kesah said the maid was picked up at
8pm on Thursday at moneychanger Jamal Mohd Nazar's home.
The maid is one of two domestic helpers in the house and had been working
there for more than two years.
"Police have interviewed at least five people including the maids
and neighbours," ACP Mazlan said.
He said it was too early to conclude whether the case was an inside job.
On Thursday morning, two unarmed robbers broke into Jamal's house after
he had left home with his family.
They took away RM200,000 cash and another RM150,000 in foreign currencies
that were placed on a table in a room.
The robbers also found jewellery and valuables stashed around the house.
They escaped with cash and valuables totalling RM1.3mil.
