Two pistols,drugs seized in raid
PENANG: Two pistols and drugs comprising syabu
and psychotropic pills were recovered with the arrest of a 48-year-old
man at an apartment in Paya Terubong here.
The 9mm automatic and a .38revolver were found with 67 rounds of ammunition
inside a toolbox by a state narcotics team led by Chief Insp A.Rajaram
at 11.20pm on Thursday.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Md Jamil said the team recovered 10
packets of syabu and nine psychotropic pills.
"Our checks showed that the jobless man had five previous drugs-related
arrests and also spent a few years at the Simpang Renggam detention Centre
under the special preventive laws.
"A seven-day remand order was obtained pending investigations into
the extent of his drugs network and involvement in armed robberies,"
he said.
He added that the suspect could be part of a bigger group.
On Wednesday,three men aged between 25 and 46,said to be involved in Ecstasy
trafficking and a series of armed robberies were arrested in nearby Bandar
Baru Itam.
A pistol with 27 rounds of ammunition and 2,843 Ecstasy pills worth more
than RM70,000 were seized when a police team raided their apartment at
3.30pm that day.
