中国式の庭がワン・ウタマで

先月の20日から今月の16日までの間、ワンウタマではチャイニーズニューイヤー･プロモーションと題してショッピングモール内に中国式の庭園を開いている。この庭園の広さは約9,000スクエアフィート。園内には、色々な花が散りばめられ訪れる人達を楽しましている。入り口には中国式の門が構えており、全体として華やかな風景を演出している。見事に茂った竹や大理石で作られた椅子とテーブル、見るものを和ませるさくらんぼとキンカンの花や木で作られた通路や柱等が見事に中国らしさを表現している。さらにクォン・ガイ集団によるライオンダンスやチベットダンス、上海雑技団のパフォーマンスや中国楽器によるオーケストラ等があり旅行者や来訪者を楽しませている。書道家のユァン・ネ・ウェイさんはイベントの一環として中国語で誠実で正直な人は繁栄、成功が与えられるといった詩を書いた。イベントの進行はミス・マレーシア2006のアデリン・チューさんとミス･中国アストロで2位に輝いたジョセフィン・ゴゥさんの2人で進められている。

Shop in a classic Chinese garden at 1 Utama

A BEAUTIFUL garden scenery in a shopping mall may sound a little far fetched, but 1 Utama (New Wing) is doing just that for its Chinese New Year promotion from Jan 26 to Feb 20.

Dubbed the Blossoming Ties Chinese Garden, the backdrop occupies some 9,000 sq ft with a moon gate covered with intricate red Chinese screens beckoning visitors to explore the garden within.

The journey unfolds across wooden walkways and bridges that lead to ornamental pavilions where marble tables and chairs are placed to allow shoppers to admire the view of lush bamboos, flowering cherry blossoms and kumquats in comfort.

Shoppers can also enjoy the serenity of water features and koi-filled pond that complement the pavilions, or get a nice view of the Chinese family house that serves as a the stage and backdrop for shows and performances.

Among the shows that will be staged throughout the celebration are the Kwong Ngai Lion Dance Troupe performance, Tibetan dance, Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe performance and Chinese instrument orchestra performance.

To drum up the excitement, lucky draws and game shows will be held at scheduled times every Friday with jewellery prizes worth RM3,000 and lots more.

“We want shoppers to enjoy the great beauty of a Chinese Garden so that they can appreciate its rich history,” said 1 Utama director Datuk Teo Chiang Kok at the launch of 1 Utama’s Blossoming Ties Chinese New Year 2007 celebration.

Master calligrapher Yuan Ne Wei from Hang Zhou, China, later gave a deeper meaning to the event by penning a poem in Chinese calligraphy. His poem reads: May prosperity be in abundance like thousands of galloping horses, The highest peak of success has been achieved, Through sincerity and honesty the path of prosperity is open,Your name renowned and well known to all.

The calligraphy poem was presented to Teo .

Gracing the event were Miss Malaysia World 2006 Adeline Choo and Miss Astro Chinese International second runner-up Josephine Goh.
