More Ecstasy pills seized last year KUALA LUMPUR: Police seized four times more Ecstasy pills last year compared with the year before. National Anti-Drug Agency director-general Datuk Sabran Napiah said the police narcotics department’s statistics showed that 8,139 pills were confiscated last year compared with 2,360 pills in 2006. “Synthetic drugs such as psychotropic pills, Ecstasy, amphetamine, and methamphetamine are most popular at entertainment outlets,” he said. He added that the number of arrests last year had also gone up by 17% compared to the year before. “There were 12,864 arrests in 2007 compared with 11,859 in 2006,” he said. Sabran was speaking to reporters after launching a campaign to encourage drug-free entertainment outlets here on Sunday. He said the campaign focused on nightspots and those aged between 18 and 40.
