| TMネット、ブロードバンドに投資
[経済]テレコムのインターネット部門の子会社TMネットは7月までに自社が保有する015番のブロードバンドサービスを開始すると発表した。「我々はRM5百万弱の投資でサービスを立ち上げる。既存のストリーミックスの顧客へ付加価値として提供するので、それほど大きな投資にはならないだろう」とチーフ・エグゼクティブのダトゥック・バハルム・サレーが昨日語った。
TMネットは昨年、RM4億7千百万もの多額の売り上げを計上した。今年は少なくとも5つの新サービスを開始するという。しかし詳細の発表は避けている。それというのも、TMネットは提携プロバイダーを探しているようだ。「我々はすでに25社のプロバイダーと契約した。だが、将来的にさらに60社のプロバイダーと提携を視野に入れている。」
TMネットはブロードバンドへのアクセスサービスを幅広く広げていくことも視野に入れているという。
「我々は644のホットスポットを有している。これから5年でその数を10、000にしたいと思う。」と語った。

TM NET TO OPERATE BROADBAND TELEPHONY SERVICES
REVENUE BASE MAY SEE 40pc BOOST
TM Net Sdn Bhd, the Internet arm of Telekom Malaysia Bhd, plans to operate
its own 015 broadband telephony services by as early as July,said its
chief executive officer,Datuk Baharum Salleh.
"We plan to spend slightly less than RM5 million to help launch the
service.There won't be much investment as it is an added value service
to our existing streamyx customers."Baharum told Mail Money yesterday
on the sidelines of a TM Net briefing.
TM Net is banking on launching new services such as the broadband phone
to help boost its revenue base by as much as 40 per cent this year.
Last year,TM Net registered sales to the tune of RM471 million.
"We plan to launch at least five new content-related services this
year."said Baharum.
He,however,declined to reveal details on the planned services.
With this in mind,TM Net is looking to tie up with more content providers.
"We have already signed up with 25 content providers,but there are
about 60 more content providers that we are targeting in the future."said
Baharum.
"We want to tie up with local content providers to market the service
overseas,so that Malaysians abroad as well as foreigners can have excess
to our news,at minimal cost,"he added.
TM Net is also looking to improve its broadband Internet access services
to help woo more people to use its services.
He said the company is enhancing its Internet protocol digital subscriber
line access multiplexor(IP-DSLAM)device as well as providing more broadband
hotspots.
"We have 644 hotspots in our list.We expect to reach 10,000 hotspots
within five years,"said Baharum,adding that TM Net's closest competitor
only has about 140 hotspots.
