Firm dose its bit for 'Recycle PC'programme
[PETALING JAYA]Panasonic Malaysia Sdn Bhd(PM)yesterday showed its support
for the "Recycle PC" programme initiated by the Association
of the Computer and Multimedia Industry,Malaysia(Pikom)and Alam Flora.
PM donated 16 used computers.
PM general manager finance and administration,Lee Soong Lim said : "This
initiative not only helps to conserve the environment but also creates
awareness on the importance of ensuring unused computers are sent to a
proper recycling company."
Alam Flora senior manager corparate communication,Ravindran Raman Kutty,said
through such initiatives,they are encouraging waste minimisation."We
aim to reduce as much e-waste (technology driven products )from ending
up in landfills.The programme also ties in with this year's World Environment
Day theme'Green Cities;Plan for the Planet!"said Ravindran.
The programme will help non-governmental organisations (NGOs)which are
in need of proper computers besides preserving Mother Nature.
The damaged computers will be sold to re-cyclers and the money from the
sale will be channeled to the NGOs.
The Pikom and Alam Flora "Re-cycle PC"programme was launched
on March 10,To date they have colected 816 computers.
