Tree-top chalets offer unique vacation experience
[LANKAWI] Want to experience living on a tree?
Then,come to Langkawi$21
The Malibest Resort in Pantai Cenang here is offering five chalets on
tree-tops,complete with air-conditioning,television and rest room.
Resort managing director Zalina Md Zain said the company wanted to try
something different after finding out that all the resorts on the island
offered the usual concept of accommodation-on solid ground.
The chalets, built near the beach ,were opened early this month, she said.
Zailina said the chalets were built of "cengal"wood at a cost
of RM50,000 each at a height of five metres,6.5 metres and nine metres
about ground on 50-year-old "jambu"trees.Rented out at RM180
per night, the chalets were in great demand, she said.
"Since they were opened ,the chalets have never been vacant, mainly
booked by tourists from Europe."she said.
Zailina said occupants had a panaromic view of the sea ,especially during
sunset.
She also said that in building the chalets, care was taken not to cut off
too many branches and twigs of the trees as a means of conserving the
natural environment.
Apart from the tree-top chalets, the resort has 60 seaside chalets built
at a cost of RM1 million.--Bernama
