Land-clearing raises ire of residents
[ AMPANG JAYA ] Land-clearing on a slope in Bukit Antarabangsa is giving
residents of Jalan Wangsa 5B the jitters.
Though no signboards have been put up,residents believe the one hectare
site close to the Athanaeum Condominium is being cleared for a housing
project.
A resident, who wished to be identified only as Khong, said he wonders whether
the project has the go-ahead from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council(MPAJ).
Another resident, who wanted to be known as Kok,said the developer should
be transparent about his intentions.
"No developer should get away with failing to place a notice board
at its construction site.Without signboards,we won't know what the project
is for,"he added.
When The Malay mail visited the site yesterday,Gombak Land Office officials
were also there and one of them seemed to be contacting the MPAJ via cell
phone.
MPAJ public relations officer Norhayati Ahmad said the council was strict
in issuing approval for development projects in hilly areas. She said they
would check if the project had been approved.
